Deeds, wills and estate records hold stories that are hard to access when the handwriting is difficult to read. My competition entry tackled that transcription problem with machine learning.

I developed and evaluated a handwriting-recognition workflow for historical Barbadian records, competing on Zindi as Motacola. The work went beyond producing plausible text: it required measuring errors and respecting historical spelling, punctuation and legal abbreviations.

  • Fine-tuning and evaluating open-weight recognition models.
  • Checking transcription quality at word and character level.
  • Building reproducible experiments and inference workflows.

The challenge supports Reclaiming Our Atlantic Destiny, a Barbados-led programme working to preserve archival records and make them more accessible for research, storytelling and future generations.

From creative production to applied AI.

I started building seriously with AI in 2022 — first with generative tools in production advertising workflows at Craft Worldwide, then progressively deeper into the infrastructure. I now run a local inference stack on Apple Silicon with a forked llama.cpp build, custom KV cache tuning, and multimodal vision support. I use Claude Code daily for development, have built and shipped production chatbots with serverless backends, and have deployed AI-driven platforms for clients including the Inter-American Development Bank.

The goal has always been the same: AI that actually does something useful, ships to production, and holds up under real use. Not demos.

Chromaverse Website + Chatbot

Lead-generation site for Chromaverse Ltd with an embedded AI-style FAQ chatbot. The chatbot uses keyword scoring and a deterministic intent engine — no API key required, no hallucinations. Collects leads through a conversational flow, then hands off to WhatsApp with a pre-filled enquiry message. GitHub Actions runs intent-routing regression tests on every push. Pricing questions are deliberately blocked at the CI level.

EcoKids Barbados Chatbot

Chatbot for Eco Kids Barbados — a nature-based kids camp in Barbados. Built on the same serverless architecture as the Chromaverse bot, adapted for camp enquiries: ages, locations, session dates, pricing. Embedded live on the Squarespace site. Vercel auto-deploys on every push to main. The same codebase also spawned a React Native mobile app and a web PWA for the business.

Full website build for Security Cameras Barbados Ltd — a CCTV installation company on the island. Static HTML/CSS/JS, Netlify-deployed, built around lead generation and quote capture. Services pages, product gallery, customer reviews, FAQ, and a finance options section. AI-assisted copywriting, SEO, and responsive design throughout. Pending launch on the .bb custom domain.
